They say a screencap is worth a thousand words.
Well, actually, I don't know if they ? whoever they are ? actually say that, but it really holds true with this freeze frame above. A little girl was upset during the eighth inning of Wednesday's Brewers-Marlins game in Miami because an older man who should have known better stepped in and intercepted a baseball that Milwaukee's Norichika Aoki threw in the direction to the girl and a young boy with a glove. It's been awhile since we've posted a clip like this, but it's going straight into the fan-baseball mishap Hall of Fame. It's as ifMcKayla Maroney metthe oblivious Texas baseball couple! The good news is that the little girl, who says she's in the fourth grade, later did an enthusiastic dance and got a ball between innings without any doofus stealing it away from her. And she received another when a sympathetic lady gifted a baseball to her. Oh, and she got to do a television interview before the end of the game. All on what was presumably a school night. That'll make for a great story to tell her class on Thursday.
At any rate, you can watch the whole clip below. Meanwhile, I'll be creating a new Change.org petition that moves to implement a new rule of ballpark etiquette: If you're over 12 years old and you're not trying to help a young relative secure a souvenir, you have absolutely no reason to be jockeying on the rail for a baseball.
