Tulsa?s can thank a heads-up punt return for its C-USA title (VIDEO)

It's difficult to describe the play that pushed the Conference USA title game into overtime with any other word than bizarre.
Tulsa punt returner picked up a loose ball ? with several UCF players standing around it ? and proceeded to run down the sideline for the game-tying score.
So how did this happen with so many UCF players seemingly covering the play?
Central Florida, punting into the wind from its own zone, got off a better-than-expected kick and had ample downfield coverage to down the ball near midfield. But the ball took a high initial bounce, which caused one of the UCF players to basketball tip it downfield.
And this is where things got interesting as no one but Watts seemed to understand the rules of college football.
At the top of the screen, after the ball is touched, the official waves his hands and throws his beanbag where the ball was initially touched. UCF players see this and basically stop waiting for the ball to die further down the field.
But here's the problem, the official never blew the play down. Even though he waved his arms, he never blew the whistle. The ball is not down until it is corralled and the only person who corralled it was Watts as he went streaking 54 yards in the opposite direction for a touchdown.
It was by far one of the craziest plays we've seen all season and goes to show that you always play to the whistle.
Tulsa took the game into overtime, blocked a UCF field goal and won 33-27 on a touchdown.
